Christmas 2020: Jingle Jangle & Santa et Cie [Film Reviews]

If you read our blog Christmas 2020: Traditions & OT, you’ll know that we watched Jingle Jangle and Santa et Cie last week. In true (my) home ed style I had the children write film reviews for each one.

This blog is a fun opportunity for the children to practice their typing skills and encourage them to think about the things we watch. While they have an enjoyed me sharing some classics from my childhood, I’m aware that the ‘Christmas/holiday film’ market is heavily saturated with English language, predominantly white character films with little diversity on offer. Santa & Cie is a great opportunity to see what other countries (non-English speaking) have to offer while Jingle Jangle is the Christmas film I wish I had growing up. It may be that because we are a multiethnic family we are more acutely aware of the lack of representation in children’s films but it brings us a lot of joy when we watch films like the ones we have watched recently.
